Quest for Knowledge
The pen speaks hope that knows despair.
Words fall on wickedly innocent ear.
Against sad walls, shelves cry unheard,
Entreating those poets that stir with words.
The eye sees beauty that knows deep pain.
Image strains to focus on the sane.
Proud upon walls blind paintings stare,
Enticing those artists that prompt to care.
Time seeks future that knows the past.
Stories writhe alive, then fade too fast.
Deep beneath walls buried mysteries lie,
Eluding those historians that dig to find.
The mind hosts truth that knows lies err.
Deep thoughts awaken from sleeping there.
Trapped within walls mental silence screams,
Defying those philosophers that attempt to dream.
Desire trudges on while courage looks back.
Necessity's knowledge fills curiosity's pack.
Encased within walls man's destiny soars,
Refining those that dare to open mind's doors.
