Our Story
Our Story
You live your life. I live mine.
So, it shall be throughout all time.
I had hoped for so much more,
For something shared,
Together as a happier pair.
You chose to stay. So, did I.
We could not stand to see babes cry.
Love's all for them, none left for us.
We both share one last sacrifice.
We pretend for them our love exists.
While true love I must mourn and miss.
I no longer feel your words, your gifts.
I only dream and reminisce.
The one who used to idolize
Has only time to criticize,
No longer looks into my eyes,
Ignores my soul and my heart dies.
Your touch of passion turns to dust and all I feel is need and lust.
I'd speak but too much has been said
And nothing heard or felt, lies dead.
So, it is true. So, it must be.
You live for you. I live for me.
And both for them. We'll save our caring.
They're new at love and love the sharing.
And when they've grown and they depart
I'll stop and grieve my broken heart.
And not forget that
Once we were, until love faded to a blur,
Grew strange and weak and slowly died.
You shrugged it off. I cried, then died.
